About the Performance
In 2021, Professor Lynn Harrell, a towering figure in the world of cello and the revered mentor of Yang Meng, passed away. Grief-stricken yet unable to travel to the United States due to pandemic restrictions, Yang, Harrell's star pupil, channeled his sorrow into a memorial performance of Bach's complete cello suites at Beijing's Zhizhusi Temple. This poignant tribute subsequently sparked a nationwide tour of the work across China.
