About the Performance
This marks Jingshan Theater's first deep involvement in producing a concert dedicated to showcasing the musical world of Ryuichi Sakamoto. The program is not limited to Sakamoto's own compositions but situates his music within historical and contemporary contexts.
The performers have selected 18 pieces spanning nearly four decades, from the late 1970s to the second decade of the 2000s. These works are drawn from 16 different albums, ranging from Sakamoto's early career with Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO, the band he formed with Haruomi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi) to his later creations after his cancer diagnosis.
