About the Performance
We associate Chopin's music primarily with the piano. However, the cello was his favorite instrument besides the piano. His three cello compositions are closely linked to three significant periods of his life: during his youth in Poland, he composed the delightful Grand Duo Concertant; after settling in Paris, he created the technically masterful Introduction and Polonaise Brillante; and his grand Cello Sonata in G minor was both the final piece he published before his death and the work he performed in his last public concert.
