About the Performance
Last year, the Cong Quartet made their highly acclaimed debut at Jingshan Theater, and now they return to join forces with pianist Gao Qianhe to present a masterpiece of chamber music. Their carefully curated program revolves around two composers whose fates were deeply intertwined—Schumann and Brahms, great masters of music who shared a mentor-protégé friendship. Their chamber works are inseparable from the influence of Clara, the woman who shaped both their destinies. For music lovers, the Schumann and Brahms pieces featured in this concert are truly the crowning jewels of chamber music. "No water is enough when you have crossed the sea; no clouds are beautiful after witnessing those atop Mount Wu." This poetic line speaks not only of the lifelong love between these two composers but also of the timeless masterpieces that have captivated music aficionados across the ages.
