About the Performance
"Drawing Ancient Tones with Heritage Strings"
In this transcendent performance, Feng Mantian bridges art forms and seeks kindred spirits through the ancient tones of the ruan (Chinese plucked lute), guiding audiences back to the essence of cultural roots and human connection.
First Half: Tracing Cultural DNA
Through the fusion of "chanting, recitation, stillness, and rhythm," Feng reimagines the ruan across classical, folk, and poetic traditions. Following dual threads of time and geography, this journey excavates the soul of Chinese traditional music – a quest for the cultural genome that pulses through millennia.
Second Half: The Path of Enlightenment
Here, music becomes a meditative vessel for channeling the wisdom of Chinese philosophers across centuries. For the first time, Feng integrates painting into musical expression, immersing listeners in the inner world of ancient literati. Through soundscapes and visual echoes, he articulates the ineffable – the qi (energy) and spiritual dimensions that language cannot capture.
