Wu Shuang and Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe — "Double Voices, Slow Tune · II · Hidden Passions"

About the Performance

Faced with the treasures of Chinese Song Dynasty poetry, Wu Shuang—a winner of the Plum Blossom Award for Chinese Theatre and a renowned contemporary Kunqu opera jing (painted-face) actor—has delved into ancient musical scores with devotion. Armed with his literary understanding of the poetic texts and his musical knowledge of Ming and Qing dynasty song notations, he has meticulously "engaged with the lyrics" and "reconstructed the scores." Through this process, he reunites musical language with literary language, allowing poetry and melody to converge once again in shared emotion—restoring their vibrant hues to full splendor.
