About the Performance
This concert features piano works by Chu Wanghua, a Chinese pianist, composer, and co-creator of the Yellow River Piano Concerto, spanning his six-decade career from the 1960s to the early 2000s. This period mirrors China’s transformative journey toward modernization and Chu’s own artistic evolution through absorption, growth, and reinvention.
Pianist Renaat Beheydt (Bo Fusheng), born in Belgium, brings not only rich performing experience but also nearly 20 years of Sinology studies to the stage. Having settled in Shenzhen 12 years ago, he has nurtured Chinese piano talents for international acclaim. Titled "Chinese Sentiments", the concert reflects both Chu Wanghua’s deepening nostalgia for his homeland and Beheydt’s profound, ever-growing connection to Chinese culture.
