A Dream, Yet a Struggle
Countless breathtaking moments,
Sacred texts in every pianist's heart,
A challenge that has inspired, daunted, and overwhelmed generations of students—
Yet they return, spellbound, without regret…
Pianist Shi Boyang compares confronting Chopin's 24 Études to Sisyphus pushing his boulder uphill—the Greek mythological figure condemned by Hades to eternally roll a stone toward a summit, only to watch it slip back as he nears the top.
This analogy is piercingly apt. Chopin's Études crown the pyramid of piano literature: they hone technique while demanding supreme melodic beauty, harmonic depth, rhythmic precision, and emotional range. Mastery reveals only deeper layers to explore—an endless pursuit where refinement knows no ceiling.
Shi Boyang is the first artist in China to tour with the complete Chopin Études, having delivered 10 acclaimed performances marked by technical brilliance and profound interpretation.
On November 17, she brings the full cycle to Jingshan Theater, inviting audiences to witness Chopin’s boundless poetry and passion.
